What we check on candidates
- Trade qualification or registration, verified against the relevant NZ register
- Right to work in New Zealand
- Two recent work references, spoken to directly
- Site readiness: licence, Site Safe or equivalent, and any role-specific tickets
What we ask employers
- Actual hours, start times, travel and overtime expectations
- Pay range, review process and what's included
- Crew structure, supervision and who the new person reports to
- Health and safety approach on site, in practice

Plenty of the people we talk to are happily employed and just curious. We never contact your current employer, your CV isn't sent anywhere without your agreement, and you can ask us to delete your details at any time.

Does it cost me anything?
No. Candidates are never charged. Tradepath is paid by the employer when a placement is made.
Can I talk to you without applying for anything?
Yes. Most first conversations are with people who are employed and want to understand their options. Nothing happens until you say so.
Can I enquire without a CV?
Yes. Tell us your trade, your experience and what you're after. We'll help put a CV together later if you need one.
Do I need the right to work in New Zealand?
For most roles, yes. If a specific employer can support a visa, we'll tell you.
Which regions do you cover?
Nationwide across New Zealand. Some trades have deeper coverage in some regions than others, we'll be straight with you about that on the first call.
How do you assess employers?
We talk to the owner or hiring manager, ask about hours, pay, crew structure and health and safety, and we don't put a role in front of you we can't describe honestly.
