About

Construction careers shaped around the person, not just the vacancy.

Tradepath connects skilled people in New Zealand's construction industry with employers and roles that fit their skills, ambitions and the life they want outside work.

Why we exist

Most trade hiring starts with the vacancy.

A job gets advertised, CVs arrive, someone starts, and six months later either the hours don't work, the travel wears thin or the work isn't what was described. Everyone loses time.

We start earlier. With candidates, that means asking what a good move actually looks like before we suggest anything. With employers, it means understanding how the crew runs and what the first three months really involve. That information is what makes a match hold.

Our scope

Construction and building services only: carpentry and building, electrical, plumbing, gas and drainage, HVAC and refrigeration, roofing, painting and decorating, plus the site leadership above those trades. We are not a general labour hire agency, a homeowner-to-tradie marketplace or a training provider.

Where we work

Nationwide across New Zealand. Coverage is deeper in some regions and trades than others, and we'll tell you which on the first call rather than after you've applied.

How we're paid

Employers pay a placement fee agreed in writing before any search begins. Candidates are never charged, for anything.

Matching principles

Five things we hold ourselves to.

Ask before we suggest

No role is put in front of someone before we know what they're trying to change.

Describe the job honestly

Hours, travel, pay process and supervision, as they actually are.

Verify, don't assume

Registration, licences and references checked against the real source.

Nothing moves without consent

A CV goes to an employer only for a role the candidate has agreed to.

Say no clearly

If we can't help, we say so quickly instead of keeping someone warm.

Check in afterwards

A placement that doesn't last isn't a placement.
